Hospital service agent
The job of a hospital service agent
A hospital service agent plays a key role in patient wellbeing and comfort.
One of the agent’s primary tasks is to maintain hygiene levels in the medical facility. This function is essential since the hospital service agent is at the forefront of the fight against the risk of infection, in particular nosocomial infections.
Depending on the department to which the agent reports, they will operate in patient wards, care units and the operating theatre itself. If working in care units, the hospital service agent will also help distribute patient meals and remove trays when patients have finished eating.
What skills are required?
Given the importance of hygiene in a hospital, the hospital service agent must be particularly rigorous in respecting protocols and maintenance instructions. This requires being methodological and organised. In daily contact with patients, the agent must also demonstrate real interpersonal skills, showing compassion towards patients as well as to their friends and family.
