The job of an IT Director
The IT (Information Technology) Director occupies a key position in a healthcare facility where the circulation of technical and medical information, as well as administrative and financial data, is essential to its operation. They define and implement the IT blueprint in accordance with the facility’s strategy. They also ensure the execution of IT projects and contribute to business projects by coordinating human, material and application resources.
The IT Director monitors management projects and administrative applications, and contributes to the evolution of technical and application platforms in partnership with project leaders, all the while ensuring information system security (having set up the necessary procedures and corrective measures). Depending on the size of the healthcare facility or facilities within their scope, the IT Director may also be required to manage a team of engineers and/or specialised technicians.
What skills are required?
With a solid background in technology, the IT Director is an unparalleled manager. They must ensure the flawless functioning of a sometimes vast fleet of computers that can comprise several hundred workstations, integrating extremely technical and varied applications. Demanding with regard to the excellence to which their department must aspire, the IT Director has to be able to manage, lead and motivate their team, all the while remaining attentive to the needs of end-users.
